LA Fitness is a fast-growing chain of fitness centers in the United States and Canada. Its headquarters is found in Irvine, California. The first gym was set up in Los Angeles in 1984, and the firm slowly increased its clubs in the 90s. The breakthrough in the firm’s history happened in 1995 when it opened a multipurpose fitness club. The said establishment provided the latest in strength training and cardiovascular training equipment, aside from having amenities like swimming pool and basketball courts.

Soon, LA Fitness became more common not just in California but also other regions of the U.S. like the Pacific  Northwest, Upper Midwest, northeast, and Mid-Atlantic. By the turn of the century, it had more than 200 clubs.  In 2007, it opened its first club outside the United States.

Cost to Join

In order to become a member of LA Fitness, you have to pay an initiation fee of $99. Then you’ll have to pay a monthly fee of $29. However, different pricings are employed in New York, Tennessee, and Canada.

As a member, you’ll have access to the cardio and strength training equipment. You can also participate in the group fitness classes and specialty classes. You’ll have your own locker and get drinks from the juice bar. However, you might have to pay extra for getting help from a personal trainer.

Cleanliness

There are a few complaints about the cleanliness of LA Fitness Gyms. The clubs are manned by housekeeping personnel who see to it that every part of their workplaces is regularly cleaned. Chances are low that you’ll find locker areas with a foul smell, or see cockroaches in the shower rooms.

Weight Machine Maintenance

LA Fitness gyms boast of having the latest equipment for weight training and cardio vascular training. A typical gym will have benches, rowers, dumbbells, stationary bikes, ellipticals, and treadmills.  It’s also very seldom to hear complaints about the quality of gym equipment in LA Fitness gyms.

Like other fitness centers, LA Fitness gyms are not spared from the problems of overcrowded facilities especially during peak hours.  LA Fitness gyms are usually packed with members during after office hours.  You might want to work out early in the morning to avoid bumping into other members during packed hours.

Other Amenities

Signing up as a member in LA Fitness allows you to have unlimited access to its state-of-the art gym and cardio area. You can also participate in the group fitness and specialty classes like yoga, kickboxing, Pilates, cycling, and aqua aerobics.

You can also relax at the lap pool, sauna, or whirpool spa. If you want to compete with your peers, you can do so through basketball or racquetball leagues.  You will also be assigned with your own locker.  In some LA Fitness locations, there are Kid’s Clubs where your children can stay while you work out.

Customer Service or Physical Fitness

Rating: 10 / 10

In terms of customer service, LA Fitness gets a high grade. Members are given their own accounts online, and they can use this to manage their workout schedule. Once you sign up for a LA Fitness membership, you can schedule your personal training sessions, individual workouts and group fitness anytime, anywhere as long as you have access to the Internet.

You can also ask for assistance from any of the physical trainers assigned at a LA Fitness gym. However this may come with an extra fee. Check with the LA Fitness gym staff if your membership includes physical fitness trainer assistance.

Having a physical trainer helping you has its benefits. You learn how to maximize your workouts, or how to properly perform an exercise with the guidance of a personal trainer. LA Fitness Trainers can also teach you the right pace and intensity level of a workout assigned to you.

Locker Room

Locker rooms at LA Fitness gyms are regularly cleaned by the gym staff. You should have no complaints with the space of the locker room assigned to you at LA Fitness gym.

Shower Room

Rating: 10 / 10

LA Fitness gyms have shower rooms where you can freshen up after an exhausting workout.

    With people that have disability and they have a scooter.,or wheel chair with they be allowed to park there motor device in the building! If we leave it outside it will be stolen.

    I’m for the gym , I’m here to have fun and to be stressed free, and to be healthy
